Baby Pillow Cases

On April 11, 2021 by Pam

My little friend, Mason is turning 2 years old and he want his own pillow. He loves turtles and sea creatures and Buzz Lightyear. So, I created a pillow case that is safe and comfortable (no zippers) and easy to take off and on for washing. The pillow size is 15.7 X 9 X 1.4″ and is avaiable on Amazon from babyworks.

Step 1:
Cut four 17 x 10.5″ rectangles.
Cut two 9 7/8 x 10.5″ rectangles
You can use any combination of cotton fabrics. If you have enough of your printed fabric, cut 3 of the outer fabric of the large size fabric and 1 large rectangle of a matching inner fabric. Cut the two smaller rectangles out of the outer fabric.

Step 2:
Iron 2 of the large rectangles in half lengthwise and 2 of the smaller rectangles in half along the longest side.
Place the two large (inner on the bottom) and outer on the top with wrong-sides together.
Place the folded pieces with the folded edges in in the following order: left hand (shorter)piece first, long piece along the top, right hand side piece, long piece and finally, long piece along the bottom, tucking the left end under the short side (so it looks like a folded box top). Clip all the way around.

Step 3: With a generous 1/4″ seam, sew all the way around the outside of the pillow case. Trim the corners and trim off excess fabric. Finally using a zigzag seam, sew around the raw edges to prevent fraying and reinforce the seams. Turn the pillow right side out and insert the form.
