Button Baskets
On January 24, 2022 by PamThese fun little baskets are easy to make and can be made out of any kind of fabric for any occasion or season. You can use up fabric scraps and leftover buttons, too!!
Step 1
Cut out 2 – 10 inch squares of fabric and 1 – 10 inch (or a little larger) sqaure of batting

Step 2: Place fabric right sides together with batting on the outside. Leaving a gap of about 4 inches for turning, sew a 1/4 inch seam all the way around, ensuring the you grab all three layers in the seam. Turn right side out, press and sew a 1/8 inch seam around the outside to close the gap.

Step 3: Machine quilt with the right side up – using any design or stitch – I used red thread – you can either use a thread that stands out or one that blends in – it depends on how comfortable you are with machine quilting. This is a good project to practice machine quilting or try new stitches.
Step 4: Fold right sides together and draw a 2″ line (I used a chalk pencil) on the folded corners. Fold in half the other way and draw a 2″ line on the other folded corners. Sew along those lines to create the darts for the baskets.
Step 5: Turn the baskets right side out, fold down the corners and press.
Step 6: Sew a button on each triangle.
