Humiliation is an underappreciated force in international relations – causing instability and violent conflict – it is perhaps the most toxic social dynamic of our age. We need to be aware of what we are doing in organizations, communities – consciously or unconsciously – that gives people permission to belittle others. Humiliation is a tool of oppression. The moment that we de-humanize someone, we are heading down the path of humiliation. We have to change the world by believing everyone is doing the best they can, listening to understand and showing love and kindness. Everyone is fighting a battle that you can’t see and don’t understand.
