Do you want to learn to knit or crochet?
On 2022-06-01 by PamWhen I was beginning to knit, I made 4 HUGE blankets with scraps of wool – they were all garter stitch. It worked because I was practicing getting my tension even. Then I tried some stockinette (knit/purl) and I crocheted scarves and even a sweater. When I learned to crochet, I started with dishcloths. You can single crochet, double crochet, etc. You can literally take any stitch (knit or crochet) and create an approximately 8″ square out of cotton and you have a dishcloth. If you want to add a border, you need to use single or double crochet. I have learned and practiced SO many crochet sand knit stitches by creating dishcloths (or washcloths). Softer cotton can be used to make small towels (or hooded towels) for babies. There is no end to end to the possibilities and EVERYONE loves a dishcloth. I make them when I am riding in the car, watching TV, even reading. Crochet cotton is pretty cheap and when you are using them as gifts, it is worth the money. You don’t need a specific pattern (although they are endless on pinterest). You can do round, heartshaped, corner to corner, square – you can learn everything you need to know by simply making endless dishcloths. Dig in and have some fun!
