The Shop Hop

On July 23, 2022 by Pam

This year, Heather came up with the VERY fun idea of participating in the Shop Hop. Eleven quilt stores from Tillsonburg, Woodstock, New Hamburg, Perth Sound, St. Catharines, Hamilton, Mount Brydges, Georgetown, Shakespeare, Hamilton and Stratford participated in the event. At each store, you received a quilt block and when you have them all, you can actually make a rather large beautiful quilt

We planned our adventure around 5 stores:

Country Patchworks at 515533 11th Line
Woodstock

Heart ‘N Home
115A Peel Street, New Hamburg

The Quilt Place
3991 Perth Rod. 107, Shakespeare

Then is was off to Stratford for lunch on the river at the Boathouse Patio….

Our next stop was Ye Old Fabric Shoppe at 327 Erie Street in Stratford. We LOVED this store – definitely a favourite that we will return to. The next time I have a project – I am definitely headed back.

Finally, we stopped at the Hobby Horse Quilt Shoppe. It had an amazing bargain basement – selling a Quilter’s Pallet of 5 meters of Fabric for $15.

I want to thank my friends for putting up with my allergy cough. I almost didn’t go – but, thanks to a COVID test and some Fishermen’s Friends and a very patient carload, I was able to be part of a very fun day. We bought fat quarters and saw some beautiful quilts and picked up lots of ideas. I am sure that we will all make our blocks (after we finish the Wanderer’s Wife …LOL). We often go to bargain fabric stores like Lens Mills and Fabricland but, it is truly lovely to visit a high end shop with beautiful fabrics – many at reasonable prices.

Never hesitate to participate in life – we had some adventures – like Square One Mississauga where we TRIED to stop for dinner (it is a disaster of construction and crowds….avoid it if you can. But, we ate great food, talked and shared and enjoyed the beautiful parts of our province and were again thankful for the joy of quilting and friendship….a great combination.
