Easy Party Dresses for Little Girls
On December 6, 2022 by PamDo you shop at Fabricland? You can also shop at https://fabricvill.com. This fabric is already shirred at the top and is perfect to make a quick little dress for any little girl. They have a variety of patterns but, I do love this one – with the red cherries – a red headband completes the little ensemble.
These were made for two very special girls who are heading out on a cruise for the Holidays this year.
You simply cut the fabric wide enough to fit around the little girl ( you can borrow and dress they already have to measure the width). We added a ruffle this time – so, before you sew the dress together, measure extra fabric so you can gather it for the ruffle hem it with a rolled him and attach it to the bottom of the fabric – right sides together. We sewed a top seam to hold the ruffle in place.
Sew a 1/2 inch seam with the dress right sides together and – it is complete. (You can also just hem the original fabric if you think it will be long enough for the little girl in your life). Cut straps out of leftover cherry fabric or red. Decide your own width, fold length-wise, right sides together and sew, turn outside right , fold under the ends and sew with a very narrow seam. Attach about 2 inches from the edge of the dress. I always put the seam of the dress in the back so I know what is the front. Sew with a square to attach the straps and you are done!!
