Together: Our Community Cookbook
On March 25, 2023 by PamI recently donated a whole box of cookbooks to Women’s Place in Niagara for the book sale that they have annually. However, this week, in watching a documentary about Meghan and Harry, I was introduced to the cookbook, Together. The “Hubb Community Kitchen” came about after a fire in the Grenfell Tower in London brought women together to cook food to support the families who had suffered so much loss. With the involvement of the Duchess of Sussex, their work has been turned into an amazing cookbook filled with beautiful and delicious recipes that they regularly share with their families and now with us. A portion of the profits from each book sold goes to support communities cooking and sharing food. This is a cause that I fully support and the recipes are unbelievably healthy and so delicious. I purchased the book from Amazon.
Today, I created the Indian Shortbread, made with cardamom and pistachios. I easily adapted the recipe to be gluten free but, many of the recipes are already gluten free. The pictures in the book tell a beautiful story of the women involved in the Hubb Community Kitchen – with each recipe telling of what that particular recipe means to their family. Each recipe belongs to a woman form the community, all of whom are named in the book.
