A Year of Dishcloths…Summer
On May 10, 2023 by PamT”Swo more weeks and two more sets of dishcloths….”Sunny Day” and “Funfetti”. People are always a bit surprised to find out that in a lot of cases the yarn does all the work in knitting and crocheting. The Funfetti dishcloth uses multi-coloured yarn that produces the “confetti” look as you crochet. The stitch I used is called a shell and if you look closely at the picture you can see the shell is 7 double crochet stitches inside one stitch. This pattern would actually make a beautiful blanket.
So, next in line is Tropical Breeze and Orange Slice (more crocheting in the round). I think I will be into the Fall Collection by mid-summer and then I can start all over again or look for a new book.
A lot of these dishcloths will be tucked inside zipper pouches (stay tuned I will post these) for Mother’s Day for friends and family. Are they too pretty to use? Definitely NOT! A cotton dishcloth has about a 6 month life span – so, I will keep on crocheting and bringing sunshine and smiles to others.
I read today in Braiding Sweetgrass (an amazing book) – Can we find common ground before fighting over differences? The suggested way in this book is through gratitude, where our minds can become one in being thankful for what we have around us that blesses us. Simple things like the warmth of the sun and the water and birds and the life that springs up all around us this time of year. Cultures of gratitude are cultures of reciprocity. We all have the power of gratitude to incite reciprocity.
