Fall Dishcloths…Sweater Weather and Back to School…
On August 5, 2023 by PamWho is thinking about Autumn during the middle of summer? The way retail does “Back to School” these days, it is hard not to think about September being around the corner! Every time you walk into a store, you are bombarded with Fall clothing and lunch bags, backpacks, pencils, etc. as retailers try to hook you into buying all those back-to-school items. Truly, as a parent in Ontario, all you need for your child is a lunch bag, extra shoes and a backpack – you don’t have to get sucked into buying all that other stuff – it is available at school – through all those taxes you pay…lol
So, as Autumn draws nearer, I continue to make my way through a Year of Dishcloths and I have now entered the pumpkin, school us, turkey phase of my crocheting. I can honestly say that the feathers on those turkeys were a bit crazy to do – each one was two strands held together and you changed colours after each feather (so, there were LOTS of ends to hide) but, the result is fun and colourful and definitely a nod to Thanksgiving. I loved doing those smiling pumpkins – all the accessories (eyes, nose, mouth, stem and leaves) were crocheted separately and sewn on. These are some of my favourites but, there is alot more to come – as Autumn leads to winter and I am going to keep going until I have done them all.
