The 2023 Sock Project Give-Away

On August 26, 2023 by Pam

I have given away a LOT of socks in the past couple of years. Have you ever received a gift with strings attached? I have and it is uncomfortable. Know this for sure, when I give you a gift, it is because I love you and care about you and I think the gift I am giving you will make you happy or add something positive to your life. I have often received pictures of people wearing and enjoying the socks I give them and that is fun and a thank you is ALWAYS in order. Gift giving brings me as much joy (maybe more) thank what you feel when you receive it. We are definitely “stuff” people in this society and so I try, to the best of my ability to stick to homemade and useful items as gifts so that I am not adding to the “pile”. When you have kids in their 20’s, they LOVE money and that is not to say you can’t buy them things but, in this crazy world of expensive groceries and gas, a gift of money allows them to have dinner out or buy something fund and I NEVER ask for a report on how the money was spent – it is theirs, a gift. My kids are always grateful and, when we go out for dinner, they never expect me to pay but, I often do because I can afford to and I want to. They can save or spend their money elsewhere. My advice is spend within your means, be generous and practice gratitude and give your gifts with “no strings attached”.

Another pair of socks on its way to a podcaster… This pair will be considered fraternal twins because they are not exactly the same – around the heel – I had to improvise with yarn because I ran out of one ball. However, that part is normally in your shoes or boots and when you see it – you definitely have a conversation piece. LOL
