Bunny Cups for Easter…
On March 21, 2024 by PamDo you need something fun to make for Easter? These little bunny cups use up lots of “stash” yarn and are super easy to make (I could make one in about 1 – 1/2 hours in an evening). I held three strands of DK weight yarn together in various colours and this makes the bunny ears sturdy and makes a good-sized basket. You need a Size K crochet hook (4 or 4.5 mm – even a 5mm will do). The finished size is about 4 inches wide and about 3.5 to 4 inches tall. The pattern suggested a double strand of yarn but, I really found the triple worked better (with the 5 mm hook).
Bunny Cups:
Row 1: Chain 3 and make 10 sc in the first chain farthest from the hook.
Row 2: 2 SC in each stitch around – use a stitch marker to mark the first stitch. Don’t join, just keep going
round and round. (20 stitches)
Row 3: SC in each stitch around to the marker, don’t join
Row 4: Working in the back loops for this round only, SC in each stitch around to the marker, do not join
Row 5: 2 SC in the first stitch, SC in the next 3, repeat until you reach the marker, do not join (25 stitches)
Row 6 – 11: SC in each stitch around to the marker, do not join
Row 12: Reverse single crochet in each stitch around, join, fasten off, weave in ends.
Bunny Ears:
Chain 11, SC in the second chain from the hook, sc in the next 3, HDC in the next 3, DC in the next 2, 5 DC in the last, no working on the other side of the chain, DC in the next 2, HDC in the next 3, SCin the last 4, fasten off, leave a long tail to stitch to the inside of the cup.
Add safety eyes and safety nose (I got mine on Amazon) to the front of the basket (I also added little bows). I bought some fluffy tails on Amazon and hot glued them to the back of each basket.
Sew the ears to the inside of the baskets and stuff with “fun stuff” for Easter.
