Are You Looking for a New Cookbook?
On May 14, 2024 by PamI often find recipes on Pinterest or during a google search, but I still like putting my hands on a “real” cookbook. I used to have several shelves (4 to be exact) and I have reduced my collection to 2 shelves. I have often celebrated the Mediterranean diet – it is full of great, salty, delicious food and lots of red wine, pasta, lamb and figs, eggplant, lemons, zucchini – foods are prepared fresh and there is LOTS of great chopping.
I recently purchased Jamie Oliver’s cookbook, 5 Ingredients Mediterranean, Simple Incredible Food and it is “incredible”. Each recipe literally has only 5 ingredients and the book has sections for salads, soups and sandwiches, pasta, vegetables, pies and parcels, seafood, fish, chicken and duck, meat and sweet things. Jamie Oliver is always a hit but, this book is really worth buying. Tonight’s dinner was a salad – Creamy White Bean Salad – cannellini beans (2 cans), anchovies in oil, broccolini, red onion and parsley – you always use salt and pepper and olive oil. The instructions are simple and the food is unique and flavourful. Last night’s dinner was Moroccan-Inspired Pasta – GF linguini, marinated mixed olives, can of tomatoes, 2 garlic cloves and a jar of artichoke hearts in oil – absolutely delicious.
