Fun in the City – Beautiful Canadian Quilts
On July 14, 2024 by PamWe started the day with a stop at Kelly’s Gluten Free Bakery in Burlington for muffins and coffee on our way to spend the day with Zachary. We hopped on the Go Train in Burlington and headed for Mimico Station – a short walk to Zachary’s apartment. Zach had ordered a gluten free pizza from Revolver Pizza and we added it to the salads that I brought for lunch. Then it was the train and the subway downtown to the ROM. The ROM is featuring a beautiful display of Canadian quilts from the 1800’s and into the early 1900’s. Thanks to my friend, Rita for sending me the link to this exhibit. I found it inspiring enough that I am going to create one of the quilts out of scrap fabric that I have. Below is the picture of the quilt I want to recreate…
Tools of the trade by Mennonite women…some of these shapes were formed out of metal…
We also enjoyed poking around the many other exhibits – China, dinosaurs, Greek, Roman and their other featured exhibit, CATS. The ROM has many spaced set up for children and we had a lovely time exploring.
We finished the day with dinner at an amazing Mexican Restaurant – everything gluten free – even the Churros at El Pocho Antojitos Bar – 2 Follis Avenue, Toronto.
Some days are just fun like that.
