Dishcloths in the Kitchen
On July 17, 2024 by PamI have given away LOTS of dishcloths and I often get the comment that they are “too pretty to use.” It reminds me of growing up with my mom’s good dishes – we hardly ever used them. They were expensive and breakable and “special”. Now, young families do not have “good china” and buffets full of dishes that they “hardly ever use”. If there is one part of “modern” life that I appreciate, it is that. I have since made my “wedding” china into my every day dishes and we use them every day. When someone is special to me, I want to see them LOTS, not just once in awhile and so, I think we should consider that items that are special should be used. Yes, we risk breaking them but, in the end, we will have memories of “using” them and we will not be storing them for a time when our children will pack them in a box and donate them. So, when I give you a dishcloth – use it – when it wears out – recycle it and give me a call, I will bring you another one.
