Cycling Goals
On September 7, 2024 by PamHow much do you move every day? As someone who is 60 years old, I think about the amount that I move a LOT. I am extremely fortunate to be able to move – cycle, swim, hike, lift weights, do Pilates and yoga, clean my house, garden, mow lawn and even a bit of indoor climbing. As lucky as I feel, this doesn’t happen by accident. I set goals and I move EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I biked over 350 km in August and I plan to bike at least 70 km a week during the month of September. I will also start lifting weights 3x per week and doing some simple yoga each evening before bed. How do you plan to move? You don’t have to over do it – know your body and take into consideration the trauma or limits you have (some people have had injuries that impact their movement). Consider Pilates, physiotherapy, osteopathy, massage or other ways to support your body. The most important thing is to move – motion is lotion – so, find your “thing” and DO IT , every day.
Today was a great day! 41.9 km of cycling on the Cambridge to Paris Rail Trail – including lunch with a friend that I have not seen since before Covid. It was so wonderful to meet up, cycle together and catch up. Charles and I will continue to search for trails in order to meet my goal of cycling at least 70 km each week until the snow flies. This week, I managed 3 rides and 75 km – next week, I am looking for at least 4 rides and, again at least 70 km (10 per day). Morning rides are my favourite – early morning rides of at least 10 km with Charles before he heads off to work and then finding an amazing trail for either Saturday or Sunday to challenge us. Follow along and we will keep you updated on our progress.
