Socks from September 2024
On October 8, 2024 by PamI continue to knit one pair of socks every month. Sometimes, I save them and then find random times to give them out to people but, this month, I kept the in-house and gave them to my husband, Charles. The yarn for these was VERY thin and so, they will fit nicely inside shoes for work. I prefer thick socks in winter and I often prefer no socks at all.
There are 16 different types of socks – who knew?
Half Socks literally only cover your toes and half of your foot for those open back shoes.
No-show socks cover your toes and heel and are designed from fabric that is skin-coloured because you do not want to see them.
Ankle socks are usually worn with sneakers or low-cut boots.
Quarter-length socks are often worn with athletic shoes and they are just a little higher than ankle socks.
Crew socks come up to the mid-calf and are usually worn with high top sneakers or calf boots – to protect your calf.
Mid-calf socks are the in-between crew and quarter-length – they are usually woolen and are worn with dress boots or shoes.
Calf socks come way up – just below the knees.
Knee high socks completely cover the calf and the knee and are usually worn with dress boots or dress shoes.
Thigh-high socks are a fashion statement and are often worn with a garter belt.
You can also have compression socks, slipper socks, tube socks. dress socks, split-toe socks, leg warmer and boot socks. I guess I better get knitting…LOL
