The Quilted Jacket
On December 8, 2024 by PamI have completed my quilted coat. I started working on this project in the summer by first going through the fabric that I currently own to create my own “fabric” to match the pieces of the pattern. This meant sewing together pieces of fabric big enough for the 2 sleeves, 2 front panels and the entire piece of the back. I sandwiched the fabric and the lining between wool batting, pinned and quilted slanted lines on the sewing machine. This took about 3 spools of gray thread and LOTS of time. I made my lines the width of the presser foot and I did not measure. When all the quilting was complete, I sewed it together and trimmed the sleeves and the binding with black binding, added a collar (fluffy, furry dark blue) and it was complete.
