
Do you need to fix your walk?
On January 16, 2025 by PamFor those of us over 50, we need to remember that we are not helpless in the face of the changes that occur in our bodies as we age, and there are practical solutions available. There is SO much living ahead for us and we need to make sure that we can live happy, healthy and fulfilling lives. The stronger we are, the healthier we are. In the book, Thriving beyond Fifty by Will Harlow, there are so many strategies and one of the strategies has to do with walking – 12 tips to fix your walking.
1. Heel strike first
2. Hip extension – glutes push out as you walk
3. To pushes off after heel – use your calves.
4. Knee bend in the air – prevents tripping.
5. Keep your hips even and stable.
6. Squeeze your glutes as you walk.
7. Tuck your tummy – activate your core.
8. Chest out
9. arm swing
10. Shoulder back and down
11. Chin tuck
12. Eyes ahead.
This will keep you upright and stable and help you avoid falls this winter.
