I Spy Quilt

I haven’t created an “I Spy” quilt in quite some time but, the birth of my friend’s grandson inspired me to look through my novelty fabric and make a plan. The results are always fun and in this case, the father is a childhood friend of our boys and so it was fun to think of some of the things that meant something to them as little kids. I included pieces of Thomas the Train and Elmo and excavation vehicles and so much more. An “I Spy” quilt can be put together in a variety of different ways – squares, hexagons, rectangles, etc. and you can really dig in and be very creative.

I put the quilt together and then you have to decide how you are going to finish it. I decided on diagonals for this one and I was able to do them on the sewing machine. The results were great and I can’t wait to pass this along to a little boy to enjoy.
