January 2025 SOCKS

On 2025-02-03 by Pam

I have completed my first pair of socks for 2025. I was very surprised when I started knitting the second pair of socks and the foot did not stripe. You will see from the pictures that the yarn must have not been dyed properly. I don’t care but, it is a reminder that we can live with imperfection – that the things that bother us, usually don’t bother other people.
How do we live with imperfections?
– accept your flaws – stop comparing yourself to others – practice self compassion – celebrate your unique qualities – focus on progress over perfection – set realistic goals – surround yourself with supportive people – practice gratitude – learn from mistakes – challenge negative self talk
10 Tips for Living with Imperfection
1. Make a list of where you notice your anxious striving to be perfect. Practice self-awareness.
2. Pay attention to how you talk to yourself.
3. Narrow your focus of attack – don’t try to change everything at once.
4. Ask yourself what you could handle doing less perfectly. Can you extend a deadline? What is the difference between perfection and “good enough”?
5. Pick something and purposefully do it less-than-perfectly so you can practice tolerating the anxiety of not being perfect. Will anyone really notice?
6. Celebrate the things that you didn’t do perfectly.
7. Notice what you follow on social media. Stop scrolling and comparing.
8. Change up the way you manage your time. Consider using the Eisenhower Matrix to prioritize what is important/urgent and not important/not urgent.
9. Remind yourself that you can say “no”. Set some boundaries and remember “no” is a complete sentence.
10. Tap into some perspective – pause, take a step back and consider your place in the world and what the importance of this will be in 5 minutes, 5 hours, 5 months or 5 years.
