The Health Benefits of Ginger
On 2025-03-27 by PamWe eat a LOT of ginger in our house. I add it to stir fry and curry, salads and tea. Along with ginger, I often add fresh garlic and tumeric. Spices make us healthier and they add so much flavour to food that we make. I also drink ginger tea (made with the smaller sized ginger from Peru) every night after dinner and before bed. Ginger aids with digestion by reducing bloating and gas and help with indigestion. Ginger also can help with nausea. As someone who often gets motion sickness, I bring ginger tea or ginger “chews” along with me on road trips or airplane trips to help settle my stomach.
Ginger also can support arthritis sufferers by reducing inflammation. Ginger is an antioxidant and can help support your immune system to fight infections. If I feel a cold or flu coming on, I often take a ginger/garlic “shot”. Just ginger and garlic ground up and put with lemon water (heated) and down it goes.
Are you worried about Type 2 diabetes? Ginger can also support lowering blood sugar. Ginger, used regularly can help with both weight management and menstrual cramps. It is also said to slow the growth of some cancers (like bowel and skin or breast) and also supports lower blood pressure and better cardiovascular health.
Ginger is worth a try and it certainly adds a great deal of flavour and spice to your life.
