What do you love about summer?

When people ask us what our summer plans are, we just smile a slow and reflective smile. Summer for us is biking, golfing, walking, rocking on the front porch each morning with coffee AND it is relaxing in our backyard. We spend time (and money) getting pots and pool ready for a long, beautiful summer of enjoying the gazebo and cooling off, relaxing in the pool. We have LOTS of garden in the front to enjoy with our morning coffee and we enjoy both the work of gardening and the beauty of it. The work is a lot – don’t let anyone tell you that you can have a beautiful garden without effort – lawns must be mowed, weeds dug out, plants watered, bushes trimmed, new topsoil, new mulch, plants divided and moved, indoor plants carried outside and re-potted…are you tired yet? If you want a beautiful garden without the work, then you get our your cheque book because you will have to pay for it. My general “rule of them” is at the least – an hour day in the garden keeps the chaos away. Summer is enjoyed from Victoria Day Weekend until Thanksgiving…so, dig in and enjoy every minute.
