The First Day of Autumn 2025

We just ended the most beautiful summer day…the last day of summer for 2025. We swam, we read books and we enjoyed beautiful sunshine all day. Tomorrow is the first day of Autumn for 2025. Do you love the changing seasons? The signs of Autumn are all around is right now – the changing direction of the sun, different shadows and the leaves already changing colour. I think we should embrace the Autumn and remind ourselves of the importance of change. We all resist change; however, it is all around us. The world is a crazy place right now and I am really focusing on embracing change within myself – looking for opportunities to re-focus, find calm and focus on ways that I can make a difference through kindness and compassion.
Tonight, summer did not end with a falling star, but with a rainstorm – thunder and lightening. I think this poem is beautiful – embrace Autuman and all that it brings.

First day of autumn

The fading  sun quietly glows,
distant from the earth,
the yellow bees and autumn trees
shed the first leaves,
sky is part cloud and part clear,
the blue seeping through,
not enough to stop the early sunset that
will bring stars and moon,
the summer sweat upon my brow,
the lake’s ripples summerlike
and children playing hours less ,
still beautiful,
the fall,

I remember the Indian summers,
thinking  summer would last  but nothing  does,
not even the sky and trees and azure seas,
the pale faced moon led us  to snow and cold,
cold and colder,
winter’s edge and I pledged to keep summer,
I touch the flowers and the trees as I sit on a wooden bench,
something lovely about it,
the last days of summer and  the fall,
the sky painted with glittering stars,
winter not far,
summer ends with a falling star.
