The Joy of Creating – Dishcloths

Two weeks ago, I hosted a Bridal Tea for my future daughter-in-law and I was able to give away lots of dishcloths and homemade socks as prizes. I think most of my friends and family here are so used to receiving them that it has become “old hat” for them so, it was fun to have some of the guests be SO enthusiastic about receiving something homemade. I have rattled on about how “homemade” is not really appreciated and so, I will not go on and on today. I love making and I am more careful now about what I create and who I create it for because it is discouraging to make something, give it away and then never hear about it or see it ever again. I create for others and so when others are enthusiastic, it really makes my day. I am huge on manners and thank you’s and following up on gifts and making sure that people know how much their appreciation is valued. Manners really reflect the kind of person that you are.

This set of dishcloths took WAY MORE time than a set of dishcloths should, but they are SO fun! I hope that this kind of creation does not become a lost art. Creating the popcorn letters was challenging and the popcorn stitches actually made the popcorn. I love a great stripe and creating a chevron keeps you on your toes. Combining colours, making something fun, not worrying about what other people think – being my authentic, creative self…
