The Autumn Garden (and some Dishcloths)
On 2024-10-06 by PamThe Autumn garden changes to purples and golds and the grasses in the garden become wispy in the wind and the rain. I start trimming back and pulling out but, the flowers still bloom and I remember to be gentle with the zinnias because they remain beautiful late into the Fall. I will soon be covering the roses and spreading leaves and mulch on the soil but, the garden remains, asleep until spring.
As I was crocheting more dishcloths, the colours reminded me of my garden. in our busy lives, we fail to stop, slow down and be REALLY conscious of the beauty that surrounds us. We get caught up in our thinking and comparing and questioning – and believe me – there is a LOT to question in this world around us. I spend time reading and listening and trying to understand and making decisions about where to focus my time. Hate has no place in our beautiful world and one cannot hate when surrounded by beauty. I am so blessed.I have a relationship and a partnership with Charles. We are friends, we do things together, we talk, we contemplate, we have each other, always. I have my amazing sons who are both working hard and are good human beings. They care, they call and they spend time with us. I am surrounded by little children who remind me daily of the joy of life – much gratitude to Charlotte and Mason (and mom and dad) who allow Charles and I the privilege of watching their joy. I have my friends who have been by my side for a long time and those new to my life. They sustain us. I have a beautiful home, creative outlets and my garden.
The world is full of problems to be solved and I have intelligence, I can help. I can add my understanding, experience and thoughts. But, inside me, I can have gratitude for the beauty of all that life has to offer.
