A Simple Journal Cover

After purchasing a journal for a friend for Christmas, I decided to create a cover for it. I used to pieces of fabric (measured 10 inches longer than the length of the book and 8 inches wider than the full width of the book). In order to measure the width of the book, just wrap a tape measure all around the book.
Cut two pieces of fabric and one piece of batting and layer the fabric right sides together with the batting on top. Sew around the fabric, leaving an opening on the bottom to flip the cover out. Finish the book cover by sewing all the way around the outside edge (as close as you can from the edge) starting at the opening so that you can close it up. Find the center of the book cover, fold over the ends evenly and sew them so that you can slip the book inside. I made the cover a bit larger so that it will fit a variety of sizes of books.
